Mod Languages was well-represented in the Climate Activeness Photography & Art Contest organized by the Atlanta Global Studies Heart (AGSC) in partnership with the German Consulate General in Atlanta and the Georgia Department of Pedagogy every bit office of the second-almanac Global Climate Activity Symposium, Oct 6-8.
In the Undergraduate and Postgraduate level, the top three winners were all students of the Schoolhouse of Modern Languages. Delight run across below for details on their submissions.
1st Place: Patricia Graffunder
Description: "This painting illustrates that while the practically unregulated mega-corporations in our capitalistic arrangement contribute more to climatic change in a single twenty-four hour period that an average person could in a lifetime, we are nevertheless forced to partake in information technology and contribute to the swift destruction of our only habitat."
2nd Place: Kristina Hilko
Description: "The embroidery represents how delicate the current surround is. Like sand in an hourglass, the electric current land of the environment is slipping away from us. If we are not careful, the world will cease up being a wasteland of pollution and filth."
3rd Place: Lydia Fletcher
Clarification: "Here are cliff dwelling ruins at Mesa Verde - the dwellings serve as a reminder that caring for the environs and utilizing its resources are non mutually exclusive. Our goal should be rather to co-exist with our environment."
